Blood Type Diet
Is The Blood Type diet The Key to Staying Slim And Healthy?
Developed by Dr Peter D’Adamo in 1997, The Blood Type Diet advises followers to eat only certain foods based on their blood type.
Those who are type A are advised to cut out red meat and dairy completely.
Below is a typical regime for a type A person.
Recommended foods: Fish, including cod, salmon and monkfish. White meat such as turkey and chicken. Peanuts, pumpkin seeds, lentils, broccoli, carrots, spinach and leeks. Fruit including apricots, figs, grapefruit and raisins, herbal teas and plenty of water.
Foods to avoid: Red meat, shellfish, dairy and eggs, wheat. Fruits including banana, cantaloupe, coconut, honeydew, mango, orange, papaya and tangerine. Vegetables including mushrooms, olives, potatoes and tomatoes.
Leading nutritionist Rose Bettenson yesterday said the Blood Group diet had proved effective for improving health, adding: ‘Within the nutrition world it is well known. It is especially effective for people with digestive issues.
‘It can be taken too far, but followers who are sensible often tend to have more energy. As a result, you will naturally lose weight.’
